STEM Day

On Thursday Room 8 had a fun filled day of science and engineering team challenges.

We made catapults, balloon towers, newspaper shoes and bridges.

We also did a mad scientist writing competition. Joseph won with a funny story about a scientist and his love potion.

The Stupid Scientist

One crazy afternoon a weird Scientist wanted to make a love potion for the woman that he loved. The reason he wanted to make one was because she didn't like him.

He has been working on this for years.This year he was adding his final touches He was mixing pig skin, chicken eggs and cow milk he thought this would work, until: BOOM! A big explosion happened. Then oink, oink, bawk, bawk, and moooo, mooo. That's all he saw and heard until, pop! A Cow kissed him on the lips. Peck a chicken kisses him on the forehead. Oink a pig kissed him right on the nose.

He made the love potion wrong. The ingredients he put into the potion made the Animals fall in love with him. That's how we got the stupid Scientist.

He snores in the dark then he wakes up and he yawns very loud he puts his hands up and shakes and a magma hits the lava and he erupts . His name is sloth he's a sleepy volcano but it doesn't mean he can't erupt he's got friends sometimes they play 10 sec lava.

Diamante Poetry

Let's have a go at writing diamante poems about volcanoes!

A diamante poem, or diamond poem, is a style of poetry that is made up of seven lines. The text forms the shape of a lozenge or diamond (◊).

It will help us to think about parts of language as you need to carefully choose which words go in which line.

The room 8 Space program

Last week we completed our unit on water rockets. We had our big competition and Orange team just won by a fraction of a second. Well done Orange team!

Turbo Touch

This week we have been learning how to play Turbo Touch. It's quick and fun and we really enjoyed it.

Rocket Simulation

Do some research to help you win the Rocket Competition!

Have a play with this rocket simulator. Change the nose cone, the amount of water you put in it and the air pressure to get the rocket as high as possible!

Remember to write down your results for each test to find the best combination. Get a recording sheet from the teacher.
